Rob Lowe's son John Owen Lowe once wished the apple fell further from the tree. Well, kind of.
The acting icon's son is a co-star and co-creator of the popular Netflix comedy series "Unstable," but opened up to Andy Cohen on Thursday’s episode of the SiriusXM radio show "Andy Cohen Live" about their father-son relationship.
“It’s basically the same (as our real-life dynamic),” the actor's son said of the Netflix show, which returns Aug. 1. “I like to give my dad a hard time. And people found that to be entertaining, which was surprising to me. And I came to him and said, ‘Hey, would you be willing to let me make fun of you in front of the nation on TV?'”
The Essentials: Rob Lowe gets an'embarrassing amount' of sleep
John Owen Lowe told Cohen he I had "a legitimate little mental breakdown" while working with his dad on-set during the first two weeks of filming for "Unstable."

"Like, I walked off set, and I went into my trailer ... I was trying to become my own person and get distance away from him, and I am now his costar," the second-generation star told the Bravo heavyweight. "My face is next to his on a one-sheet, and I will be doing press with him. It was like all these realizations dawned on me."
He even called his representatives, but later developed a more positive outlook “where it’s like you should feel grateful that you get to do this for a variety of reasons. Namely this, you know, my dad won’t be around forever. It’ll be amazing that we share this together and, B, it’s hard to work in the entertainment industry.”
The father-son duo delighted fans in March when John Owen Lowe, 28, pranked his dad in an Instagram post celebrating the "Parks and Recreation" star's birthday on Sunday.
"If you could all be so kind, please send some birthday love my Dad’s way… HE’S SIXTY TODAY!!!! Love you forever, pops," John Owen wrote in the caption.
The picture he shared shows himself posing with mom Sheryl Berkoff and older brother Matthew Lowe. To the very left, where one would expect Rob Lowe, is instead the face of fellow 60-year-old John Stamos.
