More details have come to light surrounding the killing of rapper Julio Foolio.
One month after the death of the musician (born Charles Jones), Four suspects have been arrested and charged with his murder, Tampa police confirmed to NBC News July 30.
Alicia Andrews, 21, Isaiah Chance, 21 and Sean Gathright, 18, were arrested July 29 in connection with the gang-related killing, the Jax Sheriff's Office shared on X. The following day, Rashad Murphy, 30, was arrested after an hours long standoff at an apartment complex in Jacksonville, Florida. Police said a fifth suspect, Davion Murphy, 27, remains at large, per NBC News.
Andrews and Chance are charged with premeditated first-degree murder with a firearm and conspiracy to commit premeditated first-degree murder with a firearm, authorities confirmed in a press release, while Garthright is charged with two counts of premeditated murder with a firearm, three counts of first-degree attempted premeditated murder with a firearm and tampering with physical evidence. Rashad was also arrested on murder charges, while Davion is charged with first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder, according to NBC.
“All five suspects traveled from Jacksonville to Tampa on June 22, 2024, in two separate vehicles to locate and kill Jones in retaliation for an ongoing Jacksonville rival gang feud,” Tampa police said in their July 29 statement. “Based on the investigation, the three shooters were identified as Rashad Murphy, Sean Gathright, and Davion Murphy.”
Jones, Chance, Davion and Rashad are documented members of rivaling gangs who’ve been tied to a decades-long feud with several murders on each side. His killing was done by two gangs that allied together, according to authorities.
Jones was fatally shot June 23 in Tampa, Fla., while celebrating his 26th birthday, his attorney told NBC News last month. Tampa police told E! News that they were called at 4:40 a.m. to a parking lot where two cars were shot at. One person was pronounced dead at the scene and three were taken to a hospital for injuries.
Two months before his death, Jones shared that he feared for his life on social media.
"THESE LAST COUPLE MONTHS/YEARS OF MY LIFE BEEN TRAGIC," he wrote on Instagram in April. "GOD BEEN TRYNNA SEND ME A MESSAGE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS ON MY LIFE I KEEP SURVIVING..I KEEP LOSING MY BRUDDAS TO JAIL AND GRAVEYARDS BUT I KNOW THE MOST HIGH DOING EVERYTHING FOR A REASON HE LET ME WALK AGAIN FOR A REASON."
